The fourth meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union was held in Brussels on Tuesday, 27 May.
The Presidency presented the preliminary compromise on the proposal for a regulation on European Statistics on Population and Housing (ESOP) resulting from the political trilogue on 12 May, which was positively received. Delegations were informed that the text would be discussed at the COREPER I meeting the day after the CWPS, on 28 May, with the aim of seeking Member States' approval.
Under the second agenda item, the Council Working Party continued an article-by-article discussion of the proposal for a regulation on non-financial statistics concerning commercial real estate (CREI). Delegations provided comments on Articles 5, 9 to 13, the Annex and the recitals. Therefore, the initial discussion on the entire Commission proposal was concluded. Taking into account the Member States’ comments and suggestions the Presidency plans to present the compromise text to be discussed at the CWPS on 18 June.
